Lake Garda

In May 2025, I had the absolute pleasure of travelling to Lake Garda, staying at the Quellenhof in Lazise – and quite honestly, it was the most luxurious hotel experience I have ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything about this five-star resort exceeded expectations: the service, the food, the facilities, and the attention to detail were simply outstanding.

Lazise is a charming village on the shores of Lake Garda, and Quellenhof makes getting there effortless. The hotel offers a free shuttle service at any time of day, whisking you down to Lazise in just five minutes. You’re dropped right at the entrance to the village, only a short stroll from the lake, where ferries connect you to the rest of Lake Garda. Even better, once you’re ready to return, you simply give the hotel a call and they come to collect you – seamless, stress-free luxury at its finest.

From Lazise, we explored several beautiful towns by ferry:

  • Bardolino – relaxed, colourful, and full of Italian charm

  • Garda – picturesque with a lovely lakeside promenade

  • Sirmione – absolutely stunning, though very busy during our visit due to a local holiday

Each town had its own character, and hopping between them by ferry was one of the highlights of the trip.

Back at the hotel, the facilities are on another level. The main swimming pool is huge and beautifully warm, perfect for long, relaxing swims. There’s also a freshwater pool that genuinely feels like swimming in a lake – so natural it even has algae, which just adds to the experience.

Families are incredibly well catered for, with:

  • Water slides

  • A trampoline

  • A children’s play area

For adults, there are outdoor jacuzzis, an amazing spa, and multiple sports courts where you can book tennis, badminton, or pickleball. I even joined a yoga session, which was fantastic, and the gym deserves a special mention – hands down the best hotel gym I have ever seen at a hotel.

What impressed me most is how the resort is laid out. Whether you’re a family with children, a couple seeking relaxation, or part of an older generation wanting peace and comfort, there are different areas that allow everyone to enjoy the space in their own way.

And then there’s the food… wow. Every evening we were treated to a six-course meal, beautifully presented, full of flavour, and served with the most stunning views. The service was second to none – attentive, warm, and professional without ever feeling intrusive.

It truly felt like fine dining every single night, and it was one of the standout features of our stay.

Final Thoughts – Is Quellenhof Worth It?

This holiday was genuinely one of the best I have ever been on – and I’ve been some places. If you are looking for total luxury on Lake Garda, I honestly don’t think you could do better than Quellenhof in Lazise.

That said, even if luxury isn’t a must for you, go to Lake Garda anyway. The scenery, the towns, the food, and the atmosphere are unforgettable – and I can promise you, you will not regret it.

If Lake Garda is on your travel wish list, this destination truly delivers.
